Medical Education in Republic of Moldova
State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, "Nicolae Testemitanu" of the Republic of Moldova is a state funded university, where international students may study on self-finance basis subject to payment of annual tuition fee in advance and submission of attested documents by concerned authorities. The State Medical and Pharmaceutical University “Nicolae Testemitanu” of Republic of Moldova is in the list of World Directory of Medical Schools, published by the World Health Organization and has been accredited by National Council of academic Evaluation and Accreditation of the Educational Institutions from the Republic of Moldova.
There are 3 faculties for undergraduate training (Medicine – 6 years, Dentistry – 5 years, Pharmacy – 5 years), preparatory course (Language plus Biology, Physics, Chemistry - 1 year) and postgraduate courses (duration depends on chosen specialty). Languages of instruction are Romanian, English, and Russian.
Application process starts at 1st of June EVERY YEAR
To be accepted, the candidates should submit the following documents:
For undergraduate study - Certificate of Secondary Education or Bachelor Diploma, equivalent of the High Secondary School Certificate (10+2 years), corresponding to the required domain (chemistry, biology, physics).
For postgraduate study - License Diploma or Diploma of Higher Medical Education with transcript or other equivalent documents.
Declaration of value of academic certificates issued by the Ministry of Education of the country of origin, which should contain:
Confirmation of authentication of academic certificates
Duration of studies
Academic and Professional value of Certificate
Description of Grading Scale.
Application Form addressed to the Rector of the State Medical and Pharmaceutical University, "Nicolae Testemitanu" of the Republic of Moldova
Copy of the passport valid for not less than one year from entry date on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
Notarized copy of the birth certificate.
Medical certificate, confirming the absence of medical contraindications including negative result of HIV/AIDS test.
10 matte photos 3x4 cm.
Bank certificate confirming available bank account for the whole period of study (the amount of money on the bank account must cover all the expenses, including tuition fee, legalization fee for temporary residence in the Republic of Moldova, medical insurance, accommodation and living expenses).
Criminal record (police certificate).
Applicants must submit all the required documents as notarized copies translated into Romanian, Russian or English. All copies should be legalized by the state bodies of the student’s country of residence. On enrolment students should provide all above mentioned documents in original.
Tuition fee and other payments for academic year 2011-2012
To be paid each year of studies
1. Preparatory and language course – 1200 €
2. Undergraduate studies – 2900-3500 € depending on the language of education and chosen course, plus 180-290 € at the Faculty of Dentistry for training consumable materials
3. Postgraduate studies in Residency –3000-3500 € depending on the language of education and chosen course, plus 270-295 € at the Faculty of Dentistry for training consumable materials
4. Authorization of sojourn – 50 €
5. Obligatory Medical Insurance – 150 €
6. Accommodation at the University dormitory for one month – 60-125 € per person
7. HIV/AIDS test (twice per year) – 10 €
